If, like me, you’ve ever enjoyed her music how about funding her new album. There’s options for every budget. I think Pledge Music is a great way for musicians to get their stuff out there without record company support.
"What Did You Expect From The Vaccines" is unquestionably my favourite jump-around-the-kitchen album of 2011 so far. I can’t praise this album highly enough. I never tire of it. Everytime I want to smile, jump around, singalong, or increase my energy levels I stick this on. I’ve been sticking it on a lot in 2011. There’s nothing old lags like me haven’t heard a hundred times before - a bit of Ramones, a spoonful of Jesus & Mary Chain, a sprinkle of The Strokes, but who cares when it’s done this well. A brilliant slice of simple, nostalgic, highly addictive guitar pop. It’s wonderful.
Very excited to finally be seeing Alasdair Roberts tonight. Been loving his stuff for a few years now. If you don’t know him then you really should check him (start with Spoils or Too Long In This Condition). Alasdair is a Scottish folk musician. He released a number of albums under the name Appendix Out, and - following his 2001 album The Night is Advancing - under his own name. In 1994 he was “discovered” by Will Oldham aka Bonnie Prince Billy, and signed with US label Drag City. The rest is history….
